Exploratour - Water on Mars
Lakes and Floods
Separate from the Martian outflow channels, or the river valley networks, are large, dry, lakes. These lakes seemed to be evidence of times when there were floods.
In the days of the Viking mission, the evidence for frequent floods was found with an examination of the shorelines surrounding the lakes. There is no water in these lakes today.
